What is water mitigation? Water mitigation is the process of reducing and managing damage caused by water intrusion or flooding. It involves identifying and addressing the source of the water, removing standing water, drying the affected area, and restoring damaged materials and belongings when possible. The process also helps prevent microbial growth.
The goal of water mitigation is to prevent further damage, protect the health and safety of occupants, and restore the property to its pre-damaged condition. This work requires specialized equipment and experienced professionals to ensure it is done thoroughly and effectively. Prompt action can also help minimize the financial and emotional impact of water damage.

Common Causes
Steps To Take
Determine where the water is coming from (we can help you with this if you aren't sure) and turn off the supply to the leak if possible; this may require turning off the main water supply to your home, which is often located close to the road at the entrance to your property.
CAMCO Services, LLC can be on site within a short amount of time by calling our after-hours emergency number to begin the mitigation process and we can help you determine if an insurance claim would be appropriate.
If you choose to file a claim, our Claims Coordinator will work with you every step of the way to make sure that all of your questions are answered and that all of the required documentation is submitted to your adjuster in a timely manner.
What To Expect
We understand that most homeowners have not experienced a water loss before, which can be overwhelming, and there will be questions along the way so our Claims Coordinator is available by either calling our office or by email to walk you through the process as well as communicate directly with insurance adjuster to ensure that they have all of the required documentation. There will most likely be equipment that is left on-site to begin the drying process after the extraction of any standing water. This equipment may include air movers, dehumidifiers, a drying mat for wood flooring, carpet may be lifted at a corner, carpet padding may have to be cut away, and/or injectidry for drying behind walls. Per IICRC standards our technicians may need to cut away drywall/drill holes in the wall to facilitate drying, there may be a containment to close off a room, they may have to remove linoleum or LVP flooring to dry subflooring, or a toilet or appliances may need to be removed/moved. Drying will most likely take 3-5 days and someone will come daily to take moisture readings and possibly move equipment for more efficient drying. After drying is complete, our technicians will remove equipment and someone from our construction division will contact you regarding buildback/repairs.
